Hi guys. Wanting to build a little boat myself and want a mod V front
Now how in the world do you decide how and what shape to cut the front to bring up together to form the V. Have seen some different stuff on line but no explanation of why it was done that way?
Thanks

Use craft paper and clear tape to design and build a 1/12 scale model. Remember that you'll also want 3-6` of angle on the floor at the transom to help it track.

For the mod V you just cut and very tight 'V' in the front end and pinch the 2 sides of it together. The line you cut results in the profile of the V.

Simple eh?

I have been a metal fabricator, and tin boater for 35 years. I have access to the most modern fabricating equipment, and, still, I would never attempt it. Just my opinion.
