Can I use any control box on a Nissan outboard?

We just picked up this motor (1988 Nissan 70HP/tohatsu motor w/ electronic trim) and need to get a control box with the electric trim accessory. Can we use a merc/johnson etc? Are they somewhat universal? I know we can change/fabricate the cable ends if neccessary to attach to our motor, but will the wiring match?

I would have to clip off the wiring harness plug and krimp on connectors, but will the colors be the same as what's on my motor so it's fairly easy?
