on CL, guy says it is a year and a half old. But it is a edge 65-24 volt. have not seen one of these in a while. Minn Kota website says nothing about them. Anyone know if they have made these in the last couple years. Thanks for the feedback.

If memory serves, Edge is MK's basic brand with 5 speeds. Likely to be very durable. Unlike the Maxxum line, they don't have the voltage regulation that improves battery life. But using 24V, you're going to have two batteries and unless you live on the water, it won't be an issue anyways.

Ask him for the serial number.

*Note: Newer model trolling motors have serial numbers beginning with the two-letter prefix MK (Minn Kota), followed by a two-letter year code.
MKAB .......... 2001
MKAC .......... 2002
MKAD .......... 2003
MKAE .......... 2004
MKAF .......... 2005
MKAG .......... 2006
MKAH .......... 2007
MKAI ............ 2008
MKAJ ........... 2009
MKBA .......... 2010
A serial number with the designation MKAB denotes a 2001-motor and MKBA would be a 2010-year model

the 5 speed motors drain the battery a heck of a lot quicker than the variable speed.....

Down in south florida while fishing the creeks and deeper flats, the sound from the clicking of the 5 speed alone would spook fish off.... Switched to a variable speed, picked up 30% more battery life, and spooked less fish when changing speeds... If you are going to get a 24V setup, get as much power as you can out of it... a 65 would be on the LOW end of the 24V.... what boat is this going on? If you can get away with a 12V 55 lb thrust, it leaves you with alot less weight ( 1 less battery) and still puts out good power....
