I have a 80s model 50hp Chrysler Force and it is running fine
(now that some issues have been resolved)
Problem - yesterday, I left the key on while doing some stuff and
touched the top coil and it was HOT and I mean really hot to the touch.
the bottom coil was very warm, but not as hot.
Turned it off, allowed to cool, and it starts and runs like normal........
I am just concerned if this is an indication that the coils may be on their way out ???
or, is this normal................
I have done this to my '79 Johnson 25hp and don't remember it being that hot.
