Hello all I have replaced the transom in my 17.5 sylvan. I also need to replace the inner skin as the one I took out was all sorts of ate up from corrosion. I was thinking some sort of plastic sheeting would work good.

Any thoughts? After all the inner skin is just to protect the transom wood from sum and water..

I was thinking about the 4x8 sheets they have a the depot for bathroom and kitchen walls I just don't know how it will hold up to the sun..

Has anyone ever gone this route?

I would give it a coat of SE primer, primer and Rustoleum oil paint.

Thought about using some of this HDPE for my project. Never did, but looked interesting...

I used some diamond plate I found at the scrap yard. I had to use the grinder to take some of the treads down a little where it goes under the lip
