Raining when I woke up, so I loaded up the boat anyway. Dug around in the attic and found enough Army issue rain gear for me and my buddy. My little 5hp Nissan didn't care for the extra weight of my buddy in place of my son and she wouldn't get up on a plane, just pushed water at about 8 mph. So a 10 or 15 hp is in the future. Made a mental note of things I wanted while we were out. I decided the bench seats must go, especially mine at the tiller. I hated straddling it in my old boat and this one's worse since it's farther from the transom. It's going away in the new floor plan. The front bench needs to move forward about a foot to become support for a front deck to open up some more flat floor space. I need a rubber fishing net, I have a mesh one but forgot it and hate when the hook barb get caught in it. I bet I lost 5-6 fish today, including a big one right at the side of the boat. I found my last little leak, the drain tube was cracked where it meets the transom...a little more welding once it dries out. The battery needs to go up front under the deck too. I'm thinking now an aluminum floor with 2 seats on pedastals, a casting deck and storage up front. Oh yea, I need to convert a cooler into live well and a bilge pump for rainy days.
