Been awhile since I first posted.... sorry was given a lot of house stuff. Starting to remove the flooring on my boat as part is rotted. Unfortunately to do so means removing a lot of exterior rivets. I have been doing so but unfortunately on the last two did not end up dead center and went into the aluminum. Not sure what my options are next. The bit will not fit all the way through 3/16, but will I need to drill all the way through and replace with next size rivet up 1/4?

Boat and representative hole below.

Thanks,
Mark

in the bottom pic it doesn't look like you are into the material of the hull yet if the outside color of the boat is blue. Looks like the head just came off. Two options I would try. 1) use 1/8 punch to tap out the remaining rivet. 2) get a smaller bit like 1/8 and try drilling through the rivet once you have a hole through it you should be able to get it out. As long as you don't get into the hull you shouldn't have to upsize on the replacement rivet.
