    An unsafe trailer

Not welding a bushing in was the the cause of the problem. It became the weak spot and could have been an easy and cheap thing to make it right and safe. I think our trailers are the most overlooked part of the equation when it come to boats and boating. From tires to bearings and all the...

    An unsafe trailer

I'm under my boat the other day checking out the axle seals and the wiring. As luck would have it, it was getting dark when I went looking so I had a flashlight and I find something that scared the crap of me. The tongue was cracked on trailing edge of both sides where it bolts onto the trailer...

mcateercustom....I have been doing a little looking around about floatation thing and found a little outside the box solution. Give me your take on this idea. They make a thin walled PVC for non or low pressure plumbing. I was looking at SDR 41 in either 6" or 4" capped off on both ends or filed...

Lotta work done so far....great job. I've been thinking about what and how to put the foam back in on my boat. I was thinking I could use a 2 part urethane foam and encapsulate it in some sort of bag so it won't ever get wet. Problem is the foam can reach like 250 degrees and I dont know if a...

    40 hp Mariner

Yup runs good and has a good stream of water. Changed the oil in the lower unit before I took it out the first time and it looked good. Haven't had a boat in a while so it's like learning all over again. Thanks for the help.

    40 hp Mariner

The service manual I ordered goes from 72 to 89 so either way I'm covered. My plan is to run some Sea Foam through it for now and wait for winterizing to change out the fuel filter, do the water pump/impeller and of course the lower end. If I'm missing anything I'm open for suggestions...

I did read your post Zum but I didn't see a 40ELO in 89. Does that make a difference?

    40 hp Mariner

Thanks for the replys! I think I might have found the year. The serial number is 40ELO with the O being oil injection. The oil injection was removed and a gas mix used. With the numbers and the O I'm thinking it's a 1987, but I have been wrong many time before. Had it out the this week and it...

    1978 BassTracker transom wood replacement

It can't be done without cutting the weld. I have a transom project coming up this winter on the same type of boat. I have talked to a welding shop about how to cut it so it can be welded back together. I'm sure you have done this but do a search online and you will see how its done.

    40 hp Mariner

Just bought a boat yesterday and it has a 40 hp Mariner OB. Model # 40EL O. Serial # 6E9-432661. It's a grey color so an early 90 vintage. Can anyone tell me what year so I can get a service manual? Or at least steer me in the right direction to get the info myself. Also if anyone can tell me...

    New Member Introductions!

Hello to all from SW Iowa, you know the fishing capital of the world! Got back into fishing when the wife decided while on a motorcycle trip to buy a Zebco fishing combo at the Wallmart in Arkansas. She was reeling 'em in while I sat on the bank and watched. We now carry Ultralights on the...
