I have a 2013 1648 alweld and it has almost no storage. Can I just cut a hatch hole in the front deck. Anybody know if there are structural supports in this area that need to be avoided? Also thought about a hatch in the rear bench but not sure if that's a good idea? Any advice is welcome.

I would construct something behind the casting deck. Something like the
G3 1860 CC Deck Extension here.

Thanks for the replies. I think the extension idea is perfect, just have to find someone who can fab/weld aluminumn now. I duck hunt with this boat so I'll probably just take it out to the next rib as I need plenty of room for decoys. Only need to put a battery, life vest etc in there.

I too will be using my boat for duck hunting, bass fishing and family catfishing trips. I think I have finally learned how to keep everything mobile and just add or remove what I need for that trip. Good looking fishing/hunting partner BTW

Dawson at Fishon Fabrications (site sponsor) is currently extending the casting deck and adding storage boxes to my Grizzly 1754. Once I get it back I'll post pictures. His prices are great!
