Not to play devil's advocate but if you're going 6" on a river you could consider going with an inflatable pontoon boat at that point. Going to be much better given the rocks and if you did need any propulsion put a cheap transom trolling motor with a composite shaft on it.
I do have a template from my last trolling motor mount. Should I put marine grade plywood over the bow with an extension to hold the back of the motor mount and bolt it through the plywood and steel so I have all major points covered? This way it's supported all the way to the back of the...
Guys I'm wanting to not have to bolt down marine plywood like I did with my old edge bow mount. Take a look at the pic would 5 bolts into this steel plate be enough to hold on this motorguide freshwater pro?
Sorry the pic is upside down :( my phone sucks... You get the idea tho
I have a 2009 Minn Kota Edge Hand Control (the one with the hand tiller) bow mounted. The head wobbles from side to side and back and forth (fortunately the prop is still running solid so the important part works). Because they are only $309 new I'm not planning on repairing it or paying for...
I recently bought a hand tiller Minn Kota edge bow mounted mounted inexpensively on craigslist. When I noticed the motor and head looked almost identical to my 55 lbs thrust An idea dawned on me. Because you can already reverse the motor on a transom mount could you also replace the transom...
How many CCA would a battery need if its only being used to power the boats fish finder, GPS, stereo, live well, and nav lights if its hooked up to a 6 amp alternator (my Honda BF-15 has a small generator)?
I plan on using a MASSIVE 850 CCA battery up front for my trolling motor and recharging...
I SOOOOOO wish I had a picture of this but I was driving so it wouldn't have been safe. However, this boat was so epic I had to share as it would have been perfect:
About three weeks back on my way down to the Delta I passed a guy who's "bass boat" consisted of a sail boat with the mast sawed...
It's treated with thompsons water seal I couldn't find epoxy in small enough quantities. Yeah I know ill have to spray again and again, but what about waiting for the thompsons to wear out a bit and then going over it with spar?
Before I can say anything else WOW, you guys make this look easy putting in that transom was BRUTAL in 90+ degree heat  !
So I did everything the way folks said: two pieces of 5/8" marine grade plywood with water sealant on the inside of the transom glued together. Stainless steel...
I had a grizzly 1448 at one point. It's a tough boat but unless your primary use is hunting you would be better to go with the topper. The problem I had with the grizzly is that it is HEAVY! It weighs in at 438 pounds so you will need a solid 15 hp motor just to get it going solo. Put two...
