    Tin Canoe

Thanks for the reply. Finished sealing it up last night. Gonna give that a few days to dry and hopefully get started on painting it this weekend. Will have to see if I can find the bedliner in the spray can. Had planned on rolling it on, but the spray bombs sound much easier.

    Tin Canoe

Hey guys. My buddy got me into smallie fishing a local creek last summer, but his fiberglass canoe is pretty shot, so I picked up an old sportsman canoe off of my neighbor last year for $75. Its got plenty of dents and dings, but I figured I'd clean it up a bit, paint it, and make some...

New member here, MirroCraft and a 73 Evinrude 2-HP (PICS)

Thats a good looking little boat. Should be perfect for getting the kids out.

    Finally happening!!

Sounds like you're humming right along. Don't worry about the carpentry skills and small tools available. I was in pretty much the exact same boat when I started. Just read alot on here and winged it. Might not want to worry about putting the casting deck in if its gonna be too much of a pain...

    Finally happening!!

Hey Fudoshin sorry, but I haven't been on in a while. Finally got a viable motor for the boat this spring, so most of my time has been spent fishing. The boat has worked out to be everything I wanted it to be, and I have really enjoyed being able to take out my friends and family. As for your...

    12ft mirrocraft simple mods

Welcome to the site. Love those Mirrocrafts! I would not hesitate to tear the foam out of one of the seats if you want to turn it into a storage compartment, but i would be a little leary about taking one of them out completely if you don't plan on reinforcing the sides somehow to keep them...

    Mirrorcraft 14 Deep Fisherman

Niced job on the transom. All I can say about the girlfriend is that if she thinks your spending alot of time on the boat now, wait until she sees how much time you spend on it when its done!!

    Mirrorcraft 14 Deep Fisherman

Congrats on the good looking project boat. I think you'll be happy with the Mirrocraft. I have **** near the same boat and did a full mod / restore on it about a year and a half ago. Not sure how to post the link to it, but if you search for the topic Finally Happening you should be able to...

    needle valve retainer,,,,,

I feel your pain. I have a '76 evinrude 9.9 that I'm trying to get running now. Well, it runs but has as you call it a "NASTY" miss. Started tearing it down tonight and found a pretty good score mark in the lower cylinder.

    Paint question

Unfortunatly I haven't had it in the water yet, but I painted mine with a marine paint Rustoleum makes that is very reasonably priced. Went on nicely with a spray gun, and looks fantastic.

    '76 evinrude 9.9 missing?

Thanks for the replies and links fellas. Already had the sschapterpsa.com link, and you're right cajuncook, it is a great one. Unfortunatly, I tore the head off tonight and found some somewhat discouraging sights. The lower cylinder has quite a bit of buildup on the piston, and I think this...

    '76 evinrude 9.9 missing?

Well, finally have the boat about done so its time to get this beast of a motor running. Tested the compression the other night and found it to be 85# and 90#. From everything that I have found, this is pretty acceptable for this motor. Would the head gasket still possibly be blown if I have...

    Finally happening!!

That is definitly a '76 evinrude 9.9 sitting there. Bought it last year off of a local boat dealer, and it ran good the first few times I had it out, but has had troubles ever since. Have found out over the past year that the guy doesn't have the best reputation for his mechanical abilities...
