    Lake of the Ozarks

thanks, guys it was kind of funny, i'd walked up the bank to change lures, and saw the shot, so i told him to hold steady in his casting position. Then he pulls the rod back and gets snagged in the branch above him.

Ever had a scare in the woods?

there was another time i was backpacking in Big Bend NP, Texas, this time with my older sister. we had one tent, and after dark i'm trying to go to sleep, but she's scared of every little noise and wants me to stay awake until she can go to sleep. finally, around 1 in the morning i am fed up...

    Lake of the Ozarks

last weekend went to the Lake of the Ozarks, fished all evening from the bank. caught 5 or 6 largemouth around 12-14", nothing huge but had a great time. Mostly on dark plastic lizards sloooow jigged off the bottom. was using a lightweight 5' spinning rod with 4 lb test, that always adds to...

well i finally bought a digital camera, me the technophobe, the guy who did not even have internet at home until about 2 months ago. said goodbye to my old minolta 35mm and got a nice sony alpha 230 dslr. i've always loved photography but hated the expense of film and developing, those days...

Ever had a scare in the woods?

oh yeah; walking out to your deer stand before dawn, and a turkey flying off the roost 20 feet above your head, the way it breaks the silence gets my heart racing every time.

Ever had a scare in the woods?

a few years back i was backpacking alone for a few days in arkansas, i was fixing dinner at dusk when i noticed the reflection of eyes (you know, that glowing in the light look) off in the trees. if i barely moved it would go away. within a few minutes i started noticing more and more, but...

    Newbie decking question

i used a combination of a tight fit, and also attaching a 2x2 runner along the bench seats, and then use that as a mounting surface. the only holes i drilled are through the seats. and i made an elongated inboard transom to attach the rear hatches.

    Battery problem

i'm not familiar with that exact charger, but i use a schumaker too. mine has a switch for standard or deep cycle, i use deep cycle and you should too. mine has 2,10 or 50amp jump start. i use 2amp and you should too. batteries do not like to be boiled over, so you may want to have them...

Best under 10HP 2-stroke Outboard ever made?

i've had great luck with parts availability (for the very few i've needed), and great running and starting performance from my 7.5 hp 1980 evinrude, and it's the best for me because it was only 125 bucks.

i guess it was my turn

my boat doesn't have a drain, but if it did this is what i'd do: get one of those keychain holders that slip on your belt, and clip it on your motor by your pull starter, then keep your plug there. that way you'd see it before you left the dock. and don't feel bad, it's better than having to...

Newbie w/ 12' Jon Boat project HELP!

nice boat. i'd say a low floor and agree with using buffords seat cutout idea, it's great. and with the floor you could make it level to the cutout, no tripping. a raised deck would be too much for that boat probably. but for storage you could put a hatch even with the back seat to the...

    Bufford's 12 foot modification

real nice work there, glad you're getting out and fishing too. i raised my rear seat the way you did with a 7"pedestal, the bench was just too low to fish from. mine looks like it would be too high, but it works great. keep up the good work!
