    steering torque

I was having the same problem with my 40/30 Yamaha. It ended up being a small stick stuck in the area where the water shoots out. Once I removed it everything went back to normal Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

2 stroke vs 4 stroke ? for new guy

I run a 4 stroke Yamaha 40/30. It's probably quiet for a jet, but it's still pretty loud. I don't think any jet is going to be particularly quiet.

    New Skiff with Outboard Jet

Gar, I haven't measured but I feel like it drafts around 4 inches with 2 people and gear. Dime, jet tunnels are not an option on this boat. The wait time was right around 3 months. I don't have a good pic of the interior but you can check out the website www.hogislandboatworks.com to see...

    New Skiff with Outboard Jet

It rows OK. It's rows well enough to back row and keep straight against the current and make some maneuvers. It's not something I would try and row through technical waters though. I use it to chase stripers in a local lake near me and it does well. Outboard jets are not the best for lake use...

    New Skiff with Outboard Jet

I haven't done an exact calculation but about $16,000. That includes the boat, trailer, oars and accessories, motor with extended warranty and shipping to Charlotte. I ran the boat again on Sunday and am very pleased with how it performs. It tops out around 25-26 MPH and jumps on plane in...

    New Skiff with Outboard Jet

I had mine shipped to Charlotte NC. I looked hard at the the towee. What ended up swaying me to the hog was what it is made of. I don't have to worry about damaging the boat itself. I'll be out again in out Sunday and will let you know how she does

    New Skiff with Outboard Jet

I just picked up a new Hog Island SW16 skiff with a Yamaha 40/30 jet. For those of you that don't know about these boats they are made out of the same material as a Yeti cooler. Lightweight, quiet, and virtually indestructible. The boat will be used for river fishing. I got it set up with...

planning for the future: jetski conversion or 60/40 outboard

I have a inboard jet jon. If I could do it all over again I would get a outboard jet. The inboard has very few advantages (in my opinion) to an outboard

    new jet jon

I have heard the Yamaha jets are close to bulletproof. Looking at purchasing a 40/30 in the future. Hope you guys get your issues resolved!

2000 Johnson 25 hp jet (upgrading)

I guess it would depend. Have you talked to a marine mechanic about your Johnson? I'm sure a rebuild could be done for drastically less than the new Tohatsu is.

    My 1st boat ( and post )

    Very nice!

Best outboard jet? (around 25 HP at the pump)

I have heard wonderful things about the Yamaha 40/30 jet. More money but they say it is one of the best

    Jet Jon advice

I've got a 60hp 2 stroke and I find it to be plenty powerful. I can get up to about 25mph.

    Advice on Jet Jon Repair

Update I was able to get all the parts I needed from Boats.net and Ebay. I replaced the cyclinder, pistons, piston rings, and all associated gaskets. My mechanic (oddly enough my auto mechanic agreed to do the rebuild) got everything put back together and got it running. It sounds awesome...

    Advice on Jet Jon Repair

Thank you for all the replies. My idiot mechanic told me the was no model number on the engine. I should have looked myself because it's there. It says UltraNautics J6001-917145 MFD by Suzuki Motors. Anyway I have the boat back in my possession and have bought some parts of Ebay for it and...

    Advice on Jet Jon Repair

I'm almost positive it came out of a wetbike. I was even given a wetbike owners manual by the previous owner when I purchased it. Either way I'm about 90% sure it's a Suzuki dt60
