Thinking about swapping a small outboard power head for an electric motor. Anybody done this? Would like to get my 1448 to 10mph.

There are three wires up the shaft. Black which is motor (-) red which is motor(+) and which is an equipment ground. I am no expert on dc brushed motors however I do know a little bit. I don't see where it wouldn't work but at the same time I would think that being it is so cheap if it worked so...

Saw where you can buy a 101 minn kota lower unit for 200 and some change. My question is can you run straight 36v directly to it. Just need it to run wide open.

Its a 1448 mod v on a 1200 acre reservoir. There is a local guy with a custom 16 foot fiberglass boat and a torqeedo setup and it runs 18mph. But he probably has close to 15k tied up in it. Jus looking for some info on other setups that would be a little more cost effective
