    1960s voltage regulator.

I have a 1962 evenrude 40 hp lark, manual shift, elect start, belt drive 12v generator. Want to replace the voltage regulator and starter selinoin in the original controll box. The original part numbers turn up nothing. Both look like the common parts you saw on car firewalls back in the day...

Prep near done, about ready for primer. That means a decision. Which primer, read your primer article on site. Better to ask in this case. The panels have good sound paint. Clean and finish sanded to 320 grit. Some bare aluminum exposed where they were scratched or chiped. Those spots were...

Tons of small detail "stuff" including magnification and light. Following your advice I do'nt expect a proplem with the side...

    1957 Lowell Lightweight Full Restore/Rebuild

Nice hull, love the style. Now that you have a pneumatic buck riveter you can probably find a buck rivet large enough to fill the holes. Take a look a jay-cee sales. www.rivetsinstock.com. Some thing I learned restoring old airstream trailers. With aluminum hulls you can cover some serious blems...

    Couple old evenrude questions

No telltale on this engine, that concerns me. Don't want to risk an over heat. That link helps a lot, thanks. The rubber hose to the auto choke is as follows. Fitting into water jacket #1 cly [top] near head. Rubber hose attaches goes to auto choke controll housing, exits fitting on choke...

    Couple old evenrude questions

Ok, sounds like a solution looking for a problem. I won't bore holes in a perfectly fine cav plate unless I need to, thanks. As for the temp sending unit for a gauge I'm not to keen on boring & taping the water jacket. Would a brass T in the rubber water line that runs through the auto choke work?

    New England Blizzard

You get a friend or two, go down to the shop and start a wood fire in the furnace. Gather up your mowers, saws, tillers ,wackers, boats and anything else that needs repair and maintenance for next summer and get it done. After the shop is so hot you have to open a door wearing only a tee shirt...

    Who knows old Big Twins

For me a "well done engine" is sound on the inside and tidy on the outside. I "expect" the best I can do with what I have to work with. Pappy, I took your advice seriously. Removed the side plates, carbon but what shows looks OK. I just had to remove the head. Its true & waterways look fine...

    Who knows old Big Twins

Yep, checked the archives and posted the question last week. Some good sound advice but if anybody knows the #s they're not fessing up. FREE BEER for anyone that can give me the answer! Otherwise I'm gonna have to strip one down, check / mic the bores and re-ring just to see what it can give.
