Post a Pic of your boat!

After 23 years of marriage and somewhere around 10 or 12 boats, we finally took the leap and bought a new one specifically suited to our kind of fishing. 2011 War Eagle 861 Predator, Yamaha 115 4 stroke. Took delivery in June 2010 and had just started a new job working 6 and 7 days a week...

    1952 Alumacraft project

Well . . . it's been a while. My work schedule has been cruddy and haven't had much time to work on the boat or anything else for that matter. The old trailer was turning out to be more trouble than it was worth. Nothing was standard on it and loading the boat was a bear. The solution...

Cutting down a sprinfield seat post

PhilM, Grizzly jig also carries the seat post in a 6" length. They are the only place that I have seen them on the shelf. I have made a couple double seat rigs for crappie fishing that I have used the 6" riser on. Glad you got yours finished.

Cutting down a sprinfield seat post

I have cut down a couple swivl-eze seat posts. I used my miter saw with a carbide blade to cut them. The inserts are about 2 1/2" to 3" long, if you are cutting more that that from the posts you can drive out the bushing to reuse it. If you do damage your bushing you can buy them from Grizzly...

    wire clips...help!

Check out autozone or other part stores. I think I have seen them there in blister packs labeled HELP. They carry all kinds of specialty clips and fasteners that are used on cars. I will need to pick up some myself. I want to run my wires down each side of my trailer and the kit only came with 8...

    Replacing inside transom board

Thanks for all the help on this. Where are you finding the marine plywood at? Our local big chain hardware stores say they do not carry it. I don't really think they knew what it was. As soon as we get out of these 10-15 deg. days, I can get back on this project. I can't wait to get on the...

    Replacing inside transom board

I am getting ready to replace the inside transom board on my 1952 Alumacraft. I know that alot of folks are gluing plywood together to use for the inside board instead of solid lumber. The outside of the boat used plywood and it seems to splinter very easily from the outboard being clamped...

    boat seat swivel clamps

What are your thoughts on these clamp on seat bases? How well do they hold up to being leaned back in or sideways in? At 6'7" and 300 lbs. I don't want to end up on my head! I'm also trying to avoid having to cover benchs in plywood just to mount seat bases on. Thanks

    1952 Alumacraft project

This is Mrs. Crappie Stalker posting for my hubby. Our project is a 1952 Alumacraft Open C on what we think is the original trailer that we bought from a friend back in July. It's been a little slow going over the past few months, working on it when we have the time. Don't know if you can tell...

Can you mix paint to darken color?

I am getting ready to paint my boat and the paint that I bought is not as dark as I would like. Can I mix some black with it to change the shade? The paint is supposed to be a dark green but looks more like a brighter John Deere color.

    Setting up 70# Minn Kota

Dennis, If you think about how batteries are installed in a flashlight might help you. A D-cell battery has 1.5 volts. 2 batteries in series gives the 3 volts that the bulb requires. If you where to lay the batteries on the table like they are installed in the flashlight, one end would be pos...

    Hull painting help

I have a 1952 Alumacraft that I have a couple questions about painting. The paint that is on there now is probably 25 years old and is pretty oxidized. It has good adhesion except for a few scrapes that has chipped it away. So do I clean and sand the hull, priming only any bare aluminum? I was...
