    1990 gamefisher 15

A buddy of mine is getting rid of his, and I need one. The motor looks to be in great shape, and I'll be testing it out on Wednesday. When I asked him what he wanted to get out of it, he said he didn't know... Said I should test it first and offer him what I think it's worth. Truth is, I have...

Trolling motor shaft length - Transom mount

Does shaft length on a transom mount trolling motor make a difference? I understand that with a bow mount, longer is better, especially with windy conditions.... is the same true with transom mount? Will a longer shaft on the transom improve performance in rough conditions?

    Lowrance transducer question

I recently bought a Lowrance elite-4 ice machine for ice fishing. The unit will be used for both seasons, but i need to buy a skimmer transducer for it. Any idea which transducer is the correct one for the unit? It is not a dsi model, and I can't seem to find any information on which one to buy.

    PLYWOOD....

Im starting to look at my options for flooring. Im trying to avoid pressure treated at all costs, even though my flooring will have no contact with the hull of the boat. Anyway, I came across this stuff at MeNards today and was wondering if anyone could share some insight on the subject... is...

    Mini Jack Plate Question

I might be able to get a good deal on a 25hp longshat outboard here soon... only problem is that my boat has a short transom (16"). I was looking at the TH Marine mini jackplate, and wondering i anyone has had experience with them. Will this give me the 4 extra inches so a 20" shaft would...

14' Sea King build "Quacked Skull"

First and foremost, Im Kyler, Im a noob to the site, but I love all the free advice. I picked up a late 60's early 70's Sea King a couple months ago. Got the boat and trailer for $500. I plan on doing a lot to the boat, but due to a budget, I'll have to spread out the build over a few months...

    Question about corrosion

So Im starting on my 1967 sea king 14' v-bottom build. First step is painting, so she's flipped in my garage at the moment. I've started to sand her hull down and I've come across some minor corrosion in a few spots next to the keel. Most of the pits are rather shallow but there are a few...

    Painting prep work

Just wondering (this has probably already been asked by someone else), is it necessary to remove all of the old paint before I repaint my boat, or do I only need to smooth out the surface before I apply primer? Thanks in advance!

    Front and Rear decking question

I recently picked up a late 60's Sea King Montgomery Ward 14' v-bottom, and Im planning on stripping it down to the hull and starting from scratch. When adding supports/brackets to support a front casting deck, how do you attach the supports? Do you drill through the hull? Im lost and I'd...

    Boat color

I recently purchased a 14' sea king v bottom, and Im looking at re-painting it. I am thinking about going with a mostly black hull with tan accents. I have read some posts online advising not to paint the hull of a boat black due to the heat, but was wondering if the heat would transfer into...
