    horsepower restricted lakes

Unfortunately, most of the lakes around here (Huntington, WV) are 9.9 lakes. They will definitely nail you if you are over 9.9. One of the lakes is absolutely ridiculous. If you fish it without getting checked, you are lucky.

    rivet tool info

Actually, due to the extra leverage, it is much easier than a 90 degree conventional rivet tool. I have 5 of the traditional tools sitting in a pile.

    rivet tool info

czuniga, If you are asking about rivets that are used to connect the bench to the hull, you will need closed-end rivets. Regular pop rivets will not work. I have used pop rivets with 5200 sealant, but it is not as good as closed end rivets.

    rivet tool info

czuniga, I have used several different brands of rivets and I have not noticed a huge difference in the rivets. I have just used 3/16" rivets in both 1/4 and 1/2 inch lengths. I got frustrated because I couldn't find a rivet tool that wouldn't tear up after a few rivets. I had one that only...

    rivet tool info

This might help someone on their boat project. I have gone through 5 rivet tools made by Arrow and I have been using their 3000 series which is supposed to be their commercial rivet tool. However, after using 5 of their rivet tools, I finally said enough is enough. I finally found a rivet tool...

    My 79 Lowe 1648 project

Wow! Looking back through the thread, I remember now how much work I have put in this boat. I went out and looked at it and the hard work has definitely already been done. Now I need to make sure my decks are laid out like I want and then I need to get busy. It should be fun!

    My 79 Lowe 1648 project

I haven't had a chance to work on my boat for a while, but I think I might try to work on the decks tomorrow. I was working on it last summer and I was cutting the aluminum tubing for the deck frame. I started cutting the last piece of the frame and I heard a loud bang and felt pain in my hand...

    My 79 Lowe 1648 project

I got a little more done today. The floor is now cut out and I will rivet it down once I get the deck supports measured. I want to make sure of my deck design before I rivet everything down. Here are a couple of pics of the new floor.

    Bustin' Bass

I love that boat. I have been seriously considering getting one since my kids are always asking to go out on my current boat. My 16 footer is just not big enough to take out the whole family. I definitely could with yours, but I don't know how much fishing I would get done (4 kids). lol. I was...

    My 79 Lowe 1648 project

Well it floats! The engine is running good, but it needs a new carburetor. It has one slow leak somewhere, but not enough to get my feet wet.

    My 79 Lowe 1648 project

Here are some pics after I put it back on the trailer. I still have to Steelflex the top and a little in the front and the top of the transom, but I will wait till it warms up a little before I do that.

My wife just shakes her head and says she wishes someone would steal my boat. She is kidding of course, but she still doesn't understand.

    My 79 Lowe 1648 project

Here are some pics of the steelflex. I couldn't really get the temperature to the point I wanted, but I put it on anyhow. It ended up being around 70 degrees, but I had to shut off the propane heater when I left. It was about 25-30 outside, so I didn't get to let it fully cure at that...

    9.9hp conversion to 15hp

Cali27, I have the same problem as you because most of my local lakes are 10hp max. One of the lakes nobody checks, but the dnr checks every day on the other lakes. I have been pulled off the lake with a canoe and a 30# trolling motor because the motor was over 30# without being registered. A...
