Sweet motor! Boat looks like a nice fixer-upper. Go with aluminum or a combination of aluminum and wood.

Personally, I would attach it but make it so it's easy to take back out. Maybe 4 bolts holding the whole thing down. The project I'm working on now, I'm not going to put a floor in at all because I want to stay light.

Maybe put a floor in, but I wouldn't make a raised deck. Add some navigation lights, cockpit lights if you're going out early or comin in late.

Well the rain finally broke for awhile and I got an hour of work in to finish the front deck frame. Next, on to framing the side rod box.

I don't have experience working with vinyl but I have purchased some for my project. In the places I cannot wrap around edges, I plan on cutting the vinyl flush with the edge and then trimming with thin aluminum angle. I'll post pics to my thread when finished.

Congratulations on your first baby! Take my advice, get the boat finished or as much work as possible done before the baby comes. Time comes at a real premium after that. I know, my wife just gave birth to our second child at the end of Oct. Good look on your project. And remember... :postpics:

Well I went out to HD to pick up some fresh sawzall blades to have on hand in case the last one I have breaks and I found this circular blade for cutting metal. It was actually cheaper than a pack of SA blades and I believe it will cut a much straighter line. I'll give it a go once the rain...
