Getting a 1752 weld-craft tin. I have to use my 30hp 2 stroke till next year when I can afford more power. Not concerned about speed but curious if it would plane with 3 men and light fishing tackle? It's a bare flatbottom that I'll be dropping in a ply-wood floor.

My bro inlaw has the 16', and the 25 planes it well with several people on board. I'd guess the 17 would be similar with a 30.

I have a 1652 modV, use a 30hp.
A few times a year I load it down with camping gear and family, planes fine.
You might think about two different props...one for light days and the other when you load it down.
I use an 11 and a 13 pitch.

I was going to answer, but actually, I can't remember what the nose looks like from the outside... I tend to think it was the flat bottom, but I'm not sure. But it runs great with that motor.

Good idea from Zum. My boat needs a lower prop when fully loaded with batteries and people, too.
