I have a 1956 evinrude fastwin 15 that starts and runs good for maybe 5 or 10 minutes, and quits. Got it started back for a few seconds time or two, and motor locked, rope would not budge.
Few hours later pulled rope and seemed ok, didn't try to start it.
Wondering what could cause this?
Thanks for any advice.

Lean seize or overheating are possible. Check to see if it's pumping water. Also feel the engine after it has been running for a few minutes. You should be able to hold your hand on it. If it's hotter than you may have a bad water pump or thermostat or a blockage of some sort. If this checks out, look for vacuum leaks either at the carb or possibly crank seals, which would require a leak down test to verify. Assuming you are running good fuel and proper oil mix.

Lets start with the basics.
Where were you running the engine? Tank or lake or?
What fuel oil ratio were you using?
Did you see water exiting the exhaust relief almost immediately after starting the engine?

Lastly.....I see this is your first post so welcome to the forum?
