I’ve scoured the interwebs and as far as I’ve found, the answer isn’t out there.

I’ve got a 1973 model 200 20 hp that is having some shifting issues. After a lot of tinkering, I’ve discovered that the issue is a stripped “reverse cam lock”. This is a nylon/plastic fitting that links the shift shaft and the shift rod. Unlike many other (much better designed) motors, the reverse cam lock doesn’t come out with the LU. Rather, it is mounted on the drive shaft housing, just above the LU. Now that I know the issue, it should be an easy fix. However, I cannot figure out how to get to the bolts/screws to be able to change it. It seems as if the motor mount/saddle needs to be removed, but I can’t figure how to do that. Anybody dealt with this issue? Any ideas on how to get to the part to change it?

Many thanks in advance.

@kdgrills Thank you, I really appreciate it!

Any chance you can show me the next page? The header mentions the reverse lock, but the page itself doesn't address it. Thanks again!
