Hey guys. Just a quick question for ya…….Has anyone on here converted a long shaft motor to a short shaft? Specifically a Merc 9.9 four stroke? What is needed for the conversion? Just a short shaft driveshaft housing and a “short” driveshaft?

Just found out I need a shorter water tube pickup also. The problem I have with building up the transom is we have a 20hp short shaft motor we use for crabbing on the bay. I just bought the motor because my wife would like to go to 9.9 restricted lakes also. I found this motor and it is in pristine condition and for the price, I couldnt pass it up.

$800 😊

Around here there are always good deals on long shafts. Just bought a long shaft Johnny 25 for $80. Not worth converting IMO, bought it just for parts. A little late now, but you might still be better off finding a 9.9 shorty. Sure would save you a lot of hassle.
