what size motor would yall get if you had a 14 ft. flat bottom?

:WELCOME:

Thanks for joining!

If I could afford it, I would get the biggest allowed for the boat. There should be a plate on the boat...hopefully.

I have an 18 on one and wish it was a 25.

Mine is old enough that it doesn't have the placcard.

yeah the one i got has a card only it has no writing on it so whats the max you could get on it?

how wide is the boat?
riveted or welded?
transom well braced?

they all seem pretty important

I'd probably go with a 9.9 or so on a single wide jon
I'd probably go with a 20hp or so on a double wide

We need to know the bottom width & depth to give an estimate.
If it a low sided 36" wide boat, 9.9 hp max.
If it is a medium width (40-42), probably rated for 20hp (like my 1440).
If it is a high sided, 14' x 48" , then probably rated for 25.

I have a 1986 mariner/yamaha 25 on my 14'x36" jon. I have moved my fuel tank up front. I won't know how it works out untill spring.
