Here we go again guys, posting up this past months build. Started with an 82 Tracker and a 1998 Yamaha XL1200. Still got a few odds and ends to finish up but the test run has been completed and she runs great. I will be posting all the pics, feel free to ask questions. Also go and follow me on instagram @scochran77 for run videos.

I still have to build the fiberglass engine cowling and put on the side panels, then take it to the Fab shop to have the polling platform built.

What did you spray on the bottom

I sprayed Durabak on this build. I'm trying it out for the first time. I have use T-Rex Liner on my past builds with good success. We will see, Durabak has more of a rubbery texture and has more forgiveness than the harder spray in liners.

Great looking ride. I'd be interested in your stick steer system.

Stick steer is pretty simple and straight forward. Its the steering out of the ski just mounted in a horizontal position. Used a piece of straight 7/8" outside diameter conduit pipe put into the clamps on the steering bar. The diameter matches the factory handle bars. Everything is retained as far as steering components from the ski. I have built 3 Jetjons using yamaha skis and their steering system is easy to modify. Now on my other tracker build that is mine, it has a Kawi Ultra 150 engine with 145hp. The Kawi. steering on that ski was a large bulky system that wasn't going to work in the same manner. So I basically built my on. Just took the conduit, came up from the bottom about 6" and drilled a hole for a 3/8 Bolt to go through, left about 20"s above the hole. The hole served as the pivot point. Made a base mount with two pieces of 2" angle. Drilled a hole through the angle and mounted the pipe in between. now the pipe pivots front and back. attached the steering cable at the base of the pipe and walla, stick steer has been created.

So what's the numbers on this baby? Cruise MPG and speed WOT?

Don't know yet, we have only test run it in a local pond. Haven't had a chance to get to the river yet, maybe this weekend we can. It should run in the 40's with no problem. My other 16/48 Tracker build has a 145hp Kawi engine and after the new pump rebuild and impeller change I was able to hit 48mph with just me in it. This Yamaha has 135hp so the performance of this boat should be close. I guessing 44 to 45mph top speed. Cruise should be mid 30's. the Yamaha should do better on mpg than the Kawi engine. The Kawi engine is a gas hog, but it was that way in the ski as well with it's large CV carbs. I will post numbers as soon as we have them.

SC - What do you use for throttle control?

I am using the PWC finger trigger but that is making my hand sore.

I am using the trigger as well but let me tell you a little trick. I took a small piece of 1/8" aluminum flat cut a piece about 3/8" by 1/2". attached it to a small 3" long cable that hangs on my handle pole. When I get up and cruise for a while, I wedge the piece in between the throttle to act as a throttle catch. I had to play with the width of the piece to get the desired cruise that I wanted but when it is in place it holds the throttle open and all I have to do is steer. When you blip the throttle slightly it just falls out, that's the reason for the cable that it is attached to so it doesn't fall down into the floor of the boat. It works great, the perfect cruise control...lol

Good idea on the fallout pc. I didn't want to have a hard throttle lock, in case of impending doom scenario. Could happen when blasting thru shallows!

Here are a couple of short videos and pics. One is of the new build idling and the other is a few of us out cruising on the river yesterday.
