I am thinking about getting a Gobee Golight and putting it on the front of my boat. Most of the reviews seem positive on Bass Pro, But thought I would check here. The post looks like it would work best with a straight bow light mount versus an angled one. Also several reviews mentioned high current issues. Anybody have an opinion? The boat build/project section on here is great, got lost in that for two hours last night. Adam Webb

That thing looks pretty slick. Looks like you can adjust the light with a remote? That would be REALLY nice!! That light is a bit pricey though. Depending on what we have on the boat and how it's loaded I have to adjust my lights after getting on plane to get them set properly. Can be a hassle, but they sure are bright!! Here is what I did.

Not saying what I did is the best of the best, but here is how I see it:

2 35 watt HID lights draw 3.5 amps each and put out 3000+ lumens each.
1 Gobee light pulls 50 watts and puts out 1000 lumens (not sure on amp draw?).

My setup ran me about $80 all said and done.
1 Gobee light is $170.

My setup needs manually adjusted depending on load in the boat. Can be a pain in the butt at times.
Gobee light has a remote to adjust. This feature is awesome!!!

I REALLY like the ability to adjust the Gobee light with a remote. But when comparing cost, light output and amp draw to other lighting ideas like HID, or LED setups, it's not worth it IMO.

Here are some LED light bars that would run you less than the Gobee, but still produce more lumens.

Now, I have zero experience with the Gobee light, so take my opinions as based solely on what I have on my boat. I searched and searched before I settled on what I have for driving lights. I'm not 100% satisfied with what I have, but it works very well at allowing me to run wide open in the middle of winter at 4:00 am in some pretty skinny water (<6" at times) while running to my hunting spots. So I can't complain.

Big terp, thanks for the info, I appreciate it. your light setup looks handy. Let me see if I can post a pic, I don't spend much time on a pooter, if it does not work I may get my kid to do it, here goes.

I've been using a Go-Light for several years, and have been very happy with it.. I bought a stanchion mount model with the built-in nav. light.. Simply dropped it into the existing nav light receptacle on the front of the Jon and switched it on.. zero install time.. It has performed great.. fantastic service dept.. I haven't encountered any current issues, but I have it wired to dual "house" batteries.. LED models where not available when I got mine.. I would consider that route if you are concerned about power draw..

Jim » Wed Apr 16, 2014 2:27 pm[/url]"]I have always wanted one of these on my boat and will get one for sure.

Better come pick up the boat - and bring me one for my boat!
