Guessing a 10 or 15. Go with a 2-stroke or newer 4-stroke. The older 4-strokes were heavy (up to 130lbs). About 75lbs for a 10-15hp 2-stroke, 85 or so for a newer 4.

Wow, the foam boats are awesome. I was looking into making something like that last year but the cost of the foam plus shipping kept me from it. I'd love to have a local source for it. That being said, rather than fix up a jon boat I'd just make a 14' pontoon if I were you.

Thanks for all the feed back about the john and foam boats. I took the large deck out and have decided to just go simple. here is what I have so far.

Some times simple is good.

I found this site and was planning a whole rebuild on my boat...Its a basic tin boat...I havent even had it in the water yet...took me a while but I have decided to go fairly simple again. Clean it up paint it and fish it for a while and see what I want to do then. Part of the reason I got the boat was it was simple and if it got rained in or whatever who cares. I like that about tin boats...I have a bigger pleasure boat that is going to see some fishing mods soon though
