I'm on a national disaster team (body recovery and identification part of it) and am waiting to see if I'm going to get called down there. I was in Thailand in 2005 identifying the tsunami dead, but in many ways this looks even worse.
Just terrible what has happened there. Awhile back, one of my brothers worked in Port-au-Prince, and other parts of the country as a contractor. He just returned from Iraq on the 4th, and I haven't talked to him yet to hear his thoughts on this tragedy.
I got a call last night to be on standby to go there but from the sound of it they're burying the bodies in mass graves without even trying to ID them so maybe I'll not be needed until later.
