I ran my trailer lights last night. The tail lights (when head lights are on) don't work. I found out it was because I don't have the white wire ground. My trailer is galvanized so how should I ground it. Do I need to sand the area down that I am grounding too?

Put a sheet metal screw in it. It should ground from your ring terminal to the screw, and into the trailer frame.

I have it ground to the trailer pretty good now, I think.

The flashers, brake lights and turn signals work fine. When I turn the head lights on, nothing works including the tail lights/running lights.

Does that sound like it is still a ground issue?

I think I figured it out. My trailer is homemade. I mounted the lights on a two by four and attached it to the back of my trailer. So the lights themselves didn't have any ground points. I ran a wire to one of them and now it works fine. I guess it was a ground problem all along.
