Hey all. New to the forum, also pretty new to the world of boating and outboard motors. I picked up a pretty old 20 horse motor for next to nothing. Was built by chrysler. Can't find much info based on the model number but after some digging I'm somewhat confident in thinking its a 1968 or 69 Wizard 20 horse. All that aside, I really need some help on getting this motor running. I have fixed the recoil starter but however cannot get it engaged with the flywheel. I think the problem behind that is not being able to get the motor in neutral. Its stuck in forward even though i can get the tiller handle into the 'shift' position. Something is wrong with the shift linkage and I cant figure out what. Right now I have simply been hitting it with a degreaser to rid of the gunk and have been hitting some external bolts and screws with pb blaster so i can change the lower unit oil. I also cannot get the flywheel off. What do yall recommend? not sure exactly what im asking but what are some basic diagnosis tests i can do to try and get this thing to start. spark Plugs are fresh, by the way.
