I need a starting battery for a 25 Johnson and occasional trolling motor use. Not sure which group to buy. Anybody have experience with these? Thanks.

I use these....There's always a Sears close by if you need a replacement......

An Optima is a waste of money for a starting motor for a boat. No reason not to use a flooded lead acid at half the price of an AGM. If you were going offshore and pounding through the waves an AGM or gel type might be worth the extra cost.

I wouldn't go so far as to call them a waste of money, but I wouldn't invest in a Marine Optima just for a starting battery. I own 2 of them that I use for hard core bow fishing trolling. Deep cycle applications is where they shine.
