Finally got started on my new tracker, trying set up the perfect boat for my fishing buddy (3 yr old son) and I to fish our bass clubs private lakes. After my son had a couple falls out of the club's small boats the wife gave me the green light to build a kid friendly boat. The boat will be powered by a 55 lb bow mount Minn Kota with Ipilot (hoping Ipilot will make juggling helping my son fish, driving the boat and fishing myself a little easier) and a 30 lb on the transom (until duck season). I am using a mix of aluminum and wood for times sake, I plan on replacing the decks with aluminum in the winter but for now we need to get fishing. Thanks to all for the wealth of info on the site, it has been vital to the project. Better pics to follow.
Regards

The 1542's are great boats. there are a few of us on here that have them. I have a 2 1/2 year old and he runs all over mine with out a problem,

Welcome aboard Sooner2260. Happy to have you here. Nice project and it's coming along well. Keep us up to date with progress.

Managed to neglect my job and spend the majority of the week working on the boat. Still alot to be done but she is ready for us to try her out this weekend. Still have to install the switch panel, bilge, fish finder, live well pump, etc etc. Here's hoping she still floats!

Awesome build! This is exactly how I want to build my 1542. I have a couple of questions, did you pop-rivet the bracing in? Also, did you glue the carpet directly to the middle seat? Again, really nice boat. =D>

really nice build! quick question for you - hows the stability with the fishing seats and decking? would you still be able to put an outboard on if you wanted to and still be OK weight wise? thanks!
