Just sharing some transom love.

I am pretty stoked about how it turned out.

Sapele wood, about 4 coats of spar back and front... 8 coats around the edges...

That's a really nice looking piece of wood. I might look for some to make a dash for a StarCraft I'm working on.
 
It was actually priced nicely...I think for 1" thick, and about 1'x6'...it was about $35

No stain, just clear coat spar.

Yes, they are a member of the same family of wood (wikipedia, thank you).

An African Mahogany type wood, correct you are sir.

Kind of looks like a hard candy type effect.
 
Here is the outside, obviously darker than the inside, but I am not too concerned about it... I think it looks pretty good.

Not sure about the big washers though... maybe too much.
