I have a 16 foot monark, and I am replacing the wood on the transom. After reading some of the post about what some wood can do to aluminum, is exterior b/c plywood a good alternitive wood?

Yes, then waterseal the heck out of it with Thompsons or something similar..

I used spar varnish,caulked the bolts with 4200

I figured out that you cant use treated lumber after i finished my mods i then spent the next day tearing it apart and redoing it with exterior with a sealer.
