That is funny. I can picture his wife glaring at him in the bathroom. I can relate to him. I have pulled seines in the pluff mud here in South Carolina. When you take a step you would have to pick your leg up as high as you could to get it out of the soft bottom which creates a suction on your legs. Then as you place your foot back down you sink to just below waist level again leaving your head just above water. The mud starts to adhere to your legs like a clay and make them much larger than actual size which does not help the situation any. Do that for a couple of hours and you will swear you just ran a marathon.
