    Im not sure if I will explain this properly, but here it goes. Im a newbie that is evident, I have a 25hp motor and on the motor bracket ? there is a set of 5 holes and there is a rod that goes through them and the motor rest on this bar. Where does this bar go which set of these 5 holes?

    Mercury 8.8

    I have a Mercury 8.8 short shaft, the motor runs well but seems to be a little under powered for my 18' John Boat. Would it help a little if I changed the prop? The motor is used and I do not know much about motors or props for that matter. Any help would be appreciated.
