    Other people pulling your boat

I guess I'm the weird one here as I don't really care at the end of the day, but I keep cheap boats. I'd feel differently if I had a 35K cabin cruiser or even a 10K bass boat but I have a little flatbottom and trailer and I've got less than $1000 in the entire package so if a buddy wants to take...

Yet another question about weight limits

Yeah thing is I'm SURE that it will hold more than 335 lbs, which is why I started this thread. I see the 12 foot tracker toppers at Bass Pro though and even those have a cap of about 400lbs give or take. I'm sure a lot of it has to do with flat vs v hull, rivets vs all weld, and the gauge of...

Yet another question about weight limits

Ha, hadn't checked this thread since the 6th but I found the limit. It's 335lbs persons, motor, and gear so unless I decide to mount up some 10 foot x 6 inch capped pvc pontoon floats it'll just be for me and the dogs : ) That's fine by me though, more room to stretch out.

Anyone used the Mud-Skipper outboard or long tail kits?

I was looking into getting a motor for my jon and I figured why go out and buy some expensive new outboard or a used one I need to constantly fix when I could get a nice longtail kit or even this AMAZING looking 6.5hp outboard kit that just bolts up to a lawnmower engine. Thing is, and I mean...

Fair price on lowe l1236 package

Like brand spanking showroom new? $2000? I'm thinking $800 for the boat and trailer and $1200 for the motor with accessories. Slightly used, $1500

Yet another question about weight limits

Yeah right now I've got 1 medium sized cooler up by the front bench, a trolling motor/battery, and my fishing gear, which is pretty light. I'd definitely say it adds another 75lbs though between battery, cooler, and gear.

Yet another question about weight limits

So I've got this 12 foot Sears Gamefisher that I love, but I'm deathly afraid to take anyone out on it, with me, because I have no idea what the weight capacity is. I'm a bigger guy (230 lbs, going down but slowly : ) ) and I'd like to take my friend out on it but I know he's about 220...

    amateurhour's 12 foot Sears Gamefisher

Thanks for the replies! The first thing I'm doing tomorrow is replacing those bent to hell bunks and readjusting them for a flat boat. I found a battery for the trolling motor and I'm getting the taxes paid/registration started on it next week because I'm taking it out on a camping trip at the...

    Aluminum canoe owners: question

Get a Grumman if you can find one on Craigslist that won't break the bank. They're fantastic. I'm trying like crazy to get one now but getting stuff on CL is like trying to hit the DMV at rush hour. It just never works out. The Scanoe (the modern gen, the one at Dick's) is pretty garbage. If...

    Anyone tried this coating?

I've heard nothing but good things about that restore stuff for decks. That's what I plan to use to re-do mine (we bought the house two years ago and the deck is about 5-7 years old and due for a touch up) If I do it this summer I'll post pictures.

    1436 alumacraft mod

It's HARD to work on the boat when it's already set up to fish on isn't it? : ) I'm having that problem as well.

    Alumacraft 1236 Project

Ha! I'm jealous. We've got almost the same setup (including red truck with bumper mount 2 inch ball) but you're 16 and I had to wait till I was 30 to get my cool toys. Also you found a motor too! That's awesome. The boat is looking good. I was considering one of those livewell kits and I think...

    amateurhour's 12 foot Sears Gamefisher

So after a year of sanding, wire wheel brushing, and basic restoration, I finally threw in the towel on the 15 foot Richline semi v. I honestly was fearing getting a motor powerful enough to really push that thing and decided (after a year of kayak fishing) that I wanted something smaller. So I...

    RL's 1236 G3 Build

That's looking good! Are you running two batteries for both of those trolling motors or just one? Also can you fit two people on that boat or is it just going to be a solo fisher?

    Jon boat pontoons

I was thinking of doing the 10 foot 6 inch pvc down the sides of my boat, using the u-bolt style where it's just attached to the side of the boat. Do I need to put them above or below the waterline? Like what's the proper placement for those? Also yeah I definitely plan to either cap the...
