I don't have any experience with Yamaha's but for a boat that size I would skip the 9.9 and get something larger. At the very least a 15 hp but would look into something as large as the boat is rated for.

If this is aimed at me, I was merely pointing out that he will not be able to use the same plug once he puts a drill bit through it.

You will need a new plug once you get that one out. They are very cheap. Make sure the new plug is air tight once you tap it back on. I put a little finger nail polish around it.

Make sure you have that thing on there good. Going 30 mph on the river isn't going to be near as bad as towing it 60+ mph on the highway and having it come off and kill someone behind you. Post up some pics when you get it on! Neat idea.

I agree with Johny25. If you're out on a lake and have to go through another boats wake or get caught in rough water the front needs to be solid. Nice looking boat btw.
