1972 Eska 5 or 5.5 HP outboard issue

I have a 1972 4.5 Eska. Like anything else they are great if taken care of and tuned to their original specs. If you do a google search for your motor you will probably come across some posts on iboats by a member named mccrabs. He seems to be an eska guru. He also has a group on yahoo dedicated...

    12' jon boat advice?

Hey blakestree, I lived in Savannah for a number of years. I'm not all that far from there now. You should really get a 14 foot V-hull or a very wide 12 foot V-hull for that area. High sides will also be a big help with wakes from other boaters. One thing you may want to consider is that alot of...

    1988 Yamaha 8HP

In that case it sounds like a keeper to me. $200 bucks is a nice price to boot.

    1988 Yamaha 8HP

I don't have any experience with Yamaha's but for a boat that size I would skip the 9.9 and get something larger. At the very least a 15 hp but would look into something as large as the boat is rated for.

From what you have been describing I wouldn't be surprised if those jackleg's are the ones who broke it.

poor mans sticksteer tracker 15 lw

Nothing wrong with that setup. It's been around for decades in one form or another. I can't tell from your pics but make sure that all of your pulleys are bolted through the sides and not simply screwed into the sides. Bad things happen when those pull out at top speed. It's also a good idea to...

1959 Johnson FD13 spits and spudders while idleing... why?

If this is aimed at me, I was merely pointing out that he will not be able to use the same plug once he puts a drill bit through it.

1959 Johnson FD13 spits and spudders while idleing... why?

You will need a new plug once you get that one out. They are very cheap. Make sure the new plug is air tight once you tap it back on. I put a little finger nail polish around it.

    Boat Buying;Buy New or Craigslist?

Whatever you do, do not buy a boat of off craigslist. Even after you have found that perfect boat and brought it home. You will soon find yourself awake at 2 a.m. scrolling through page after page in cities way too far away to travel. All just to find another perfect boat. I say...

14' AT? Richline? Whatever. I'm getting there! Thanks guys

Arkansas Traveler, did in fact place their badges on the transom with those short roofing nails. My boat had the motor and weight limit badge on it with the exact nails you have pictured. If you decide that it's not a AT I would love to get that badge from you as mine is missing. If you are in...

Golf cart hardtop on my 15ft Jon?

Make sure you have that thing on there good. Going 30 mph on the river isn't going to be near as bad as towing it 60+ mph on the highway and having it come off and kill someone behind you. Post up some pics when you get it on! Neat idea.

1958 Aluminum Sea King title question

You may be able to get an abandoned title. P&W will come out and inspect the boat as Vermonster said. I would call P&W and ask them every possible question you can think of and don't put any money into it until you have it registered! Vermonster, I've spent the last 2 years trying to get a boat...

Can I safely remove the front bench

I agree with Johny25. If you're out on a lake and have to go through another boats wake or get caught in rough water the front needs to be solid. Nice looking boat btw.
