    1970 Alumacraft

I think I finally hit the right combination of forms and notarized affidavits. Lousiana Fish and Wildlife cashed the checks to get my numbers and title for my boat and motor.

    1970 Alumacraft

I used a combination of everything, I used the aircraft stripper and a 3M paint stripping wheel on most. This worked great on the paint above the waterline that wasnt primed. If I would have known how good that primer coat was below the waterline I would have just sanded it down. I used...

    1970 Alumacraft

Got the hull stripped and sanded, using lights working at night I found all kinds of spots I missed and about 6 rivets I need to replace. The keel looks like it was dragged through gravel so while I work on the transom I am gonna re-read the steel flex thread, hadnt planned on using it but it...

    1970 Alumacraft

The goal is to have the boat and trailer match the truck. In 10 years when I get a new truck I'll redo the boat and trailer.

    1970 Alumacraft

Finally got some pictures taken, before picture of the boat doesnt show all the peeling paint on the other side. In hindsight should have just stripped the sides and sanded the bottom but ya live and learn. Finished the trailer first now with work and life almost done with the exterior

Ingredients to the Roll and Tip..

How long did it take to strip it down and is their a preferred stripper to use? I saw some youtube videos on the roll and tip but am not sure about it but using spraypaint on my entire boat seams a bit nuts.

    14ft Alumacraft Conversion

A drill and the stripping pad is what I used on my trailer, I did my trailer first and am now figuring out what I want to do with my boat. I did learn on my trailer to use a wire brush on the heavy rust first them the stripping pad, saved some wear and tear.

Retrieve a 14' jonboat ; extended trailer tongue

Differant approach, the tongue on my trailer was bent and a bit short so for $35 got a new piece of 2x3 tube drilled a couple holes and had a longer tongue. Granted the trailer was in pieces at this point since I was replacing all the hardware/sanding/painting but a differant option.

    Post a Pic of your...trailer?

Found the forum after I tore down the trailer. New guides out of 3/4 rigid conduit, will throw some PVC on it and mount my lights on top. Paint, New bunks and new Tongue. Tongue that was on it was bent and a bit short. This forum has saved me a couple of humbling phone calls to my Dad. Thanks
