12ft Duke Jon Boat Conversion

Hello all:

I purchased a used 12ft Duke Jon Boat last spring and I'm getting ready to start my conversion. The one question I have before I begin is whether or not removing 1 or 2 of the bench seats will adversely impact the structural integrity of the boat? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You can remove one bench seat without compromising the integrity too much. If you do more than that make sure you re-enforce the hull.

I've got a buddy that took out both benches without reinforcing it and he had to go back later and add a cross bar.

I want to include a rod storage compartment and based on the responses so far I dont think I'm going to removed the bench seat but rather modify my plan for the upper deck. Thanks for responding.
