I'm new to this site and I have to say that I'm amazed at what can be done to an aluminum boat. I was given a 14' Mirrocraft v-hull boat with a 6hp Johnson on it. The trailer is in good shape. Needs to be cleaned up and painted. Had to re-wire it with new tail lights. Motor runs strong but isn't really big enough. Won't get up on plane but you can't beat free! After browsing this site for awhile I really want to modify my boat. My concern is that its going to be too unstable. It is 50" wide in the bottom(where the bottom meets the sides) and 58" wide at the gunwales. It isn't very deep (12" from the gunwales to where the sides meet the bottom). I would like to have a flat floor to move around on and some storage without making it unstable to move about. Anyone have a boat like mine and came up with a good layout?

Step up on the bench tops and walk around while the boat is in the water. Just experiment with it. If you feel pretty good about the stability, you know that you are good to go. Also, a floor wouldn't raise the center of gravity very much, so that is a pretty safe option.
