1st Bass of the year - local pond

I headed out to a couple local spots today. One fish, on about the 4th cast of the day, then nothing else. Got him on a lipless crank, close to the shore. Funny thing is, I'm pretty sure I had hooked the same fish last week, but my line broke right at the shore. Same spot, same lure, same size fish. Air temp was around 55 today, water temp was....cold.

I'd take one fish like that in a whole day of fishing - especially if it was my first bass of the year!

Nice bass. Only problem is, catching one of those right at the beginning of the year raises your expectations too much for the rest of the trips.... :shock:

Did you lose your lure when your line snapped - cause I think I found it? Silver Rat-L-trap?

I've lost 3 Rat-l-traps out there in 2 weeks, so if you find one, there is a good chance it's mine!
