20hp mercury-key???

I bought a new project today and the the old 20hp mercury didn't come with a key. Is there a way to get a key made off the vin #?

Should be able to take the switch to your local locksmith and have a key made.

Only way to find out is to call your local dealer. Where I work if the vehicle is too old we can't get the codes from the manufacturer but a local locksmith is able to somehow. I send people to him when I can't get it. Not sure of the differences between automotive and boats though.

Some locks have the code stamped on them where the key is inserted. Safes, desks, etc. It's possible boats could be the same.

Removed the ignition going to have a locksmith make me a key.
