Today I rebuilt the carb on my 1982 35hp Johnson. No problems except there was one part called "bearing- needle valve" that I wasn't sure about. The diagram that came with the kit shows one but I'm sure mine didn't have one in it. The motor seems to idle better but now the air adj. screw is at two turns instead of one. The main reason for the rebuild was a leaky needle and seat and erratic idle. Need the carb guru's to chime in. Thanks!

the needle bearing is way inside the carb behind the idle needle. remove the idle needle, and the seal. look into the carb with a flashlight and you should see a small white plastic collar. to remove it i use a long drywall screw to help get it out. a new needle bearing will help improve idle qualities. i have replaced many of these and it always help the idle issues.
