Does anyone have any experience with the air-cooled B&S 5 hp outboards? I have a chance to get one new for a good price, and was wondering if anyone had experience with these motors....dependability, power, etc. It would go on a basic 12 - 14 foot boat.

PBW has one and you can even see the videos on it in the videos section (homepage). Motor is alright in my book.

I think highly of the little engine and there's a lot of them around here.We recently had some lakes ban 2 strokes,so people picked up the B&S.I haven't heard any bad things from people that have them.A few have told me if you can do maintainence on a riding mower you can maintain the B&S outboard.

Thanks for the replies...I was even thinking about putting it on a square-stern canoe, if I can find one...an old Grumman preferred.
