can my 2007 merc 15hp 4-stroke charge a battery?

Title says it all. Can the engine charge the battery i'm planning to add or do I need to plug it in at night. One 12v battery for fish finder and electric motor.

If it's electric start model then yes. If it's manual start you can likely just purchase a rectifier and install on motor then you would be able to charge. I did this on a 4 stroke 40hp merc that I had.

It should. However I still plug my battery in as I use my tm battery for my starting battery
