Caught my First Salmon Today

Caught my first salmon this morning! But I forgot the camera!!! It was quite a thrill. Biggest fish I ever caught. I estimate he was no less than 10 lbs. He put up a huge fight, he bent my rod almost in half (I was afraid it would break) and got me tangled in the trolling motor. Caught him right at the mouth of the Humber River casting a kwikfish at about 8:30 a.m.

I'll be back out tomorrow morning. This time I will bring the camera!

Hmmmmm, Salmon, my favorite fish to eat and catch.

I'm a little spoiled, spent a year on one of the Aluetian Islands in the Bearing Sea off the Alaskan coast.

Congrats BC, I know exactly what you are talking about. Last year, a buddy and I were trolling with downriggers 2 kms out of Port Credit and hit a 30 pounder at 102 feet. I thought my arms were going to fall off before I could boat her......Are you out on Lake Ontario in your Jon?

I launch on the Humber river and fish at the mouth. That lake is way too big for my Jon. Even on a calm day there are swells.
