Charging Batteries

Does anyone pop the tops off of their deep cycle batteries when charging? I have seen this done before and just wanted opinions.

I dont - if it starts bubbling then you charging it too fast.

I don't unless it is a "really" hot day outside while I am charging..I mean up in the 90's or better.

I pop them on mine if I'm charging at 10amps or more..

with the onboard chargers on mine, they deliver 5amp to each and I've never heard or seen them bubble. But when I put that 10amp on them, them suckers go crazy

what kind of deep cycles yall have?

all ive been around are dry matt

If you are charging with a lot of amps you can see the level better with the caps off. If the cells are bubbling the cell should be ok. If you have one or more cells not bubbling that cell is dead. That sight test is only good for a high amp charge. They will not bubble with a low amp charge.
