Does anyone know where I could order some remote controls for a '05 15hp Johnson for a good price? Also how involved is converting a tiller to remote? Is that something that can be done at home?

I think this subject has been covered here before.

When I bought my used tin, it had a side console remote steering. The steering cable was frozen, the wiring harness to the console was toast but the controls still worked. After looking up the cost of a new steering system, I decided this was going to be a tiller control boat which also allowed more floor space for people and gear. Yup, I'm cheap at times.
