Hey all, I'm looking for an aluminum boat and found a guy with a 16ft blue fin deep v he'd sell for 500 bucks. It's in great shape surprisingly other than the floor being rotted.

1988 1606 superhawk is the model

Anyways. I intend on fishing from it, all season but using it mainly for duck hunting as that I do every day during the season. I hunt bigger reservoirs like west branch in ohio.

Could I tear the boat down to the hull including taking the console out, then deck it myself? Also, if I put a tiller on it, what size would work? I'm not about going fast, just moving better than an inch worm.. specifically I have a 9.9 I'd like to put on..

Any input is appreciated.

you more or less answered your own questions . .. . . .

tear it down, clean it up, deck it yourself. get a tiller motor.
bingo - bango - DONE !!!
and if you look over the past posts about modifying and changing up things
on your boat, there are AWESOME builds that are posted.
Just read and take notes.
